Dong Xian was a Han Dynasty politician born in 23 BC and died in 1 BC, she rose quickly as a minor official and being the most powerful official in the imperial administration of Emperor Ai within the time of a few years.
Most scholars had agreed that Dong's career advancement was because of the personal relationship with Emperor Ai, basically a homosexual one, instead of a demonstration of abilities. They were both married, but Emperor Ai was childless.
