American activist, most famously for woman suffrage, but also for the abolition of slavery and temperance. Anthony was born on March 15, 1820, and raised in a Quaker family. She died on March 13, 1906. She never married. In her work for the suffrage movement, she is most closely associated with her colleague Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
